The appropriate method for cleaning standard nuts should be selected based on their material, the type of contaminants present, and their intended application. The following common cleaning methods have been compiled based on publicly available information:

General Cleaning Methods

Physical Scrubbing: Use a stiff-bristled brush or an old toothbrush dipped in clean water to scrub the surface of the nut; this effectively removes adhering substances such as dust and greasy grime. Note: Avoid using steel wool or metal scouring pads to prevent scratching the metal surface.

Hot Water Rinsing: Soak or rinse the nuts in hot water (60–80°C). This method is suitable for heat-resistant metal nuts, as the hot water helps to soften grease-based contaminants; afterwards, wipe the nuts dry with a cloth to prevent water spots.

Asphalt or Oil Stains: Spray with a specialized asphalt cleaner, allow it to sit for a short period, and then wipe clean. This method is non-corrosive to the nuts and yields effective results.

High-pressure water jet or steam cleaning: Suitable for industrial environments, but pressure and temperature must be controlled.
