The Development Process of Anti-loosening Nuts

Self-locking nuts originated abroad; they feature a special engineering plastic permanently bonded to the threads. During the tightening process, this engineering plastic is compressed, generating a powerful reactive force that significantly increases the friction between the internal and external threads, thereby providing absolute resistance to vibration.

This resistance is distributed uniformly across the entire engaged section of the internal and external threads. Furthermore-unlike traditional anti-loosening methods-this frictional force is independent of the clamping pressure between the threads. Traditional methods rely on friction generated *by* the clamping pressure to prevent loosening; consequently, if the screw loosens even slightly and the pressure diminishes, the friction vanishes rapidly, resulting in a loss of the anti-loosening effect and, ultimately, screw detachment. However, plastic-based anti-loosening methods are susceptible to environmental factors and cannot meet the requirements of extreme high or low temperatures, necessitating the exploration of new anti-loosening technologies.

Thanks to this unique method of thread deformation-based locking, the fasteners can be repeatedly removed and reinstalled-anywhere from 5 to 50 times-while the anti-loosening function remains consistently effective. Because this locking mechanism offers high vibration resistance, light weight, and reusability, it has emerged as the most reliable anti-loosening product available today.

Screws that have undergone this anti-loosening treatment are known as self-locking screws. They are ideally suited for fastening applications involving moving parts. Initially utilized in U.S. aerospace vehicles, their application later expanded to the American automotive industry. As manufacturing technologies matured and costs declined, these fasteners were adopted across a wide range of sectors-including 3C electronics, bicycles, skating and skiing equipment, furniture, sports gear, and medical devices-comprehensively replacing traditional lock washers and fully demonstrating the reliability of self-locking screws in ensuring secure, vibration-resistant fastening.
